Abstract. The article presents an overview of the state, structure and main trends in the development of the global and Russian biotechnology market in terms of assessing the prospects for using the forest biotechnological potential of Russian regions (wild berries, mushrooms, medicinal raw materials, logging industry waste). A detailed description of the structure of the world and Russian biotechnological markets is given with a justification of the market segments that are most interesting for products obtained from the processing of forest biotechnological raw materials. The author presents an overview of the most competitive and popular types of products on the market based on the processing of forest biotechnological raw materials (natural plant extracts, freeze-dried powders, essential oils, hydrolates, and others). The article contains an overview of modern technologies for the extraction of plant raw materials (including technologies for water-alcohol extraction, supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, ultrasonic extraction, hydrodynamic extraction, steam distillation, vacuum circulating extraction, and others), and also provides a feasibility study for the integrated processing of forest biotechnological resources and logging waste (green mass of coniferous woody plants), involving the choice of the most effective technologies for processing specific types of biotechnological raw materials. The review of technologies was made by the author based on the analysis of scientific articles and publications, as well as on the basis of the author’s experience in the development and support of the implementation of investment projects in the field of forest biotechnologies.
