Abstract. The article is devoted to the analytical issues of the implementation of regional projects and the prospects for the development of an integrated system for managing municipal solid waste in Saint Petersburg. The main objectives of the Regional Project «Formation of an Integrated System for Managing Municipal Solid Waste in the Federal City of Saint Petersburg» were aimed at solving the following issues:

- increasing the share of processed and recycled municipal solid waste in the total amount of waste generated in St. Petersburg;
- reducing the share of waste that is subject to disposal.
The regional project, designed to be implemented from 2019 to 2024, contained a set of measures aimed at creating waste treatment, disposal and/or neutralization facilities in order to reduce the negative impact on the environment by reducing the volume of buried waste and involving it in economic turnover.
From January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2030, the regional project «Circular Economy (Federal City of Saint Petersburg)» is being implemented in Saint Petersburg as part of the national project «Environmental Well-Being» and the federal project «Circular Economy».
