Abstract. The article presents an overview of modern methods for recycling textile clothing waste, which are divided into four main groups: mechanical, physical, chemical and biological. The waste pre-treatment processes are described in detail, including stages such as disinfection, sorting, washing, drying, and removal of fittings. For all methods discussed in the article, the types of fabrics recycled and the potential products are specified. The authors analyzed the advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of each method. It was noted that the most universal and economically justified method for use in Russia at present is the mechanical method, which allows for the production of products such as regenerated fiber, non-woven materials, and wiping rags. Physical methods can only be applied to single-component polymer-containing textile clothing waste. Chemical methods are quite promising for the separation of textile clothing waste from mixed fabrics. Biological methods are applicable only to cellulosic waste, and the resulting end products have limited market demand. The authors have formulated the conclusion of the work on the need for the priority development in Russia of an effective system of collection, logistics and pretreatment of textile waste, which is the foundation for the creation of a sustainable industry for their recycling and the transition to a closed-loop economy. At the same time, regardless of the chosen method, the preliminary preparation of raw materials remains a critically important link in the entire technological chain, determining the quality and demand for end products.
