Abstract. Within the framework of the presented article, the author examines the features of lending programs. Special attention is paid to educational loans and the history of their appearance and development in Russia. The author focuses on the fact that in Russia, unlike other countries, this type of loan appeared not so long ago, but is already in demand, since obtaining higher education acts as one of the main goals of every person. However, as you know, not everyone can apply for higher education on a budget basis, and not everyone can afford to study on a commercial basis. In addition, education is becoming more and more expensive every year, and this burden often falls on the shoulders of parents. In this regard, an educational loan acts as one of the optimal ways to solve this problem. At the same time, it should be noted that the funds received by the borrower as part of an educational loan can only be used to pay for tuition at both a higher educational institution and an educational institution where secondary vocational education can be obtained. Of course, there are some requirements for obtaining an educational loan, as with other types of lending. The article contains a list of mandatory conditions for obtaining a loan. Special attention in the article is paid to the analysis of the history of the development of educational lending in Russia and the most significant lending program. The author emphasizes that Sberbank made a special contribution to the development of educational loan programs, which adjusted the loan conditions several times. The final part of the article is devoted to highlighting the positive and negative aspects of educational lending programs, on the basis of which the author formulates conclusions regarding possible ways of developing this type of loan.
