This study is devoted to a comprehensive assessment of the impact of the introduction of innovative technologies on the development of the logistics infrastructure of the region and determining their contribution to strengthening the country’s export positions in international markets. The relevance of the topic is due to the strategic importance of the NWFD as a key «sea gate» of Russia, with an extended coastline of the Baltic, Barents and White Seas, a developed transport network and proximity to European markets. The article considers key areas of digital transformation of logistics processes, including digitalization of port operations, implementation of intelligent transport systems, application of blockchain technologies in document management and use of big data to optimize supply chains. Modern technological solutions, such as Port Community Systems, automated crane control systems, IoT sensors for cargo monitoring, artificial intelligence systems for load forecasting and route optimization, are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of empirical data on the impact of innovations on the time parameters of cargo handling, the efficiency of customs clearance and the overall capacity of transport corridors. The main barriers to innovative development are systematized, including high capital intensity of projects, insufficient compatibility of information systems, shortage of qualified personnel, regulatory restrictions and cybersecurity challenges. Strategic directions for further development are defined, including the activation of public-private partnerships, creation of digital ecosystems, modernization of the regulatory framework and investments in human capital. The need for an integrated approach to digitalization is substantiated, which involves synchronizing the efforts of various participants in the logistics chain and creating a single information space.

Keywords: logistics infrastructure; innovations; Northwestern Federal District; export potential; digitalization of logistics; intelligent transport systems; blockchain technologies; Internet of things; artificial intelligence; terminal automation; export competitiveness; regional economy; transport corridors; seaports; innovative development; digital transformation; logistics costs

Kiselev Yuri Sergeevich Institute of Regional Economics Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Saint Petersburg, Russia E-mail: y.kiselev@tlk-sarma.ru Abstract.
