The development of remote sensing technologies, unmanned surveying, as well as the integration of geodata into application platforms (navigation systems, thematic GIS, cadastral databases) requires the formation of multi-level cartographic solutions in which a single data set is transformed in accordance with a scale model.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this case, the problem of consistency of cartographic representations at different levels of detail is of particular importance. For topographic information, which plays a key role in engineering design, territorial planning and the defense sector, the need for a multi-scale approach is especially critical: it is due to both different requirements for display accuracy and the variability of objects that retain their significance when moving between scales.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Despite the existence of separate theoretical and software solutions, the systematization and formalization of multi-scale mapping methods remain insufficiently developed, especially in the context of regional specificity and complex relief, typical for a significant part of the territory of Russia. The article considers the possibilities of generalization of objects during the transition from one scale to another in cartographic electronic maps in information retrieval systems. Possible generalization methods are described. A generalization algorithm is described, which is based on dividing into layers and transition during generalization to pre-prepared levels. The theoretical and methodological foundations and applied aspects of multi-scale mapping as a complex process that ensures the coordination of the content and level of generalization of spatial data at different scale levels are considered. The main attention is paid to the development of algorithms for selecting and generalizing cartographic objects depending on the display scale, as well as the features of taking into account territorial specificity and expert assessment of the significance of objects. The work applies methods of spatial analysis, semantic categorization, generalization of geometry and cartographic modeling. The results of experiments on regional-level data are presented, including the development of map prototypes at a scale of 1:10,000 to 1:1,000,000. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in creating multi-level GIS and atlases.
