The resources and objects that require a coordinate referencing to the terrain during ecological monitoring were considered. The advantages of using satellite positioning methods over the traditional geodetic ones are given. A review of the main methods of coordinate definitions (navigation definitions, differential method with the use of a base station, satellite systems of high-precision positioning) was done. The available accuracies of each of methods are shown. The conceptual issues of technology of the satellite coordinate determinations are considered. The authors give the results of research on the use of PPP technology (Precise Point Positioning). The absolute method of coordinate determinations in the PPP technology provides accuracy in the real-time mode under static conditions at the level of root-mean-square errors of 3-5 cm and during dynamics \u2013 10 cm.
