Freight traffic along the corridor exhibits significant volatility depending on the geopolitical situation and the development of infrastructure components. In 2024, rail traffic along the New Silk Road increased by 80 % compared to 2023, reaching 380 434 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), demonstrating the recovery of the corridor’s transit potential after a two-year decline. This study examines the complex logistics processes occurring within the Silk Road International Transport Corridor (ITC), including the rail, road, and maritime components of the transport corridor, as well as the factors determining its operational efficiency. The study is based on an analysis of statistical data from the Eurasian Railway Alliance (ERAI), UTLC ERA (United Transport and Logistics Company), Russian Railways, and specialized analytical agencies for the period 2020–2025. A conceptual model for improving the ITC logistics complex has been developed, integrating infrastructure development, process digitalization, unification of technical standards, and optimization of tariff policy. The scientific novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive analysis of the current state of the Silk Road International Transport Corridor (ITC) logistics system amid fundamental changes in the geopolitical landscape and the identification of key barriers hindering the realization of the corridor’s transit potential. The practical significance of this work lies in the development of a system of recommendations for government agencies and transport and logistics operators to improve logistics processes within the ITC, including measures to modernize infrastructure, implement digital technologies, and harmonize the regulatory framework.

Keywords: international transport corridor; logistics complex; Silk Road; freight transportation; transit potential; transport infrastructure; digitalization of logistics; Eurasian Union; multimodal transportation; transport tariffs; container shipping

Qi Wang Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Moscow, Russia E-mail: qiwang7979@gmail.com Academic adviser: Kapustina Nadezhda Valeryevna Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Moscow, Russia E-mail: nvkapustina@fa.ru Abstract.
