The country’s mountainous terrain, where elevated terrain accounts for approximately 93 % of the country’s territory, greatly complicates connecting stations to main power lines and necessitates the development of autonomous solutions. This study explores ways to improve the efficiency of charging power systems by integrating hybrid renewable energy sources, including small hydroelectric power plants, solar photovoltaic systems, and energy storage systems. The analysis identified a number of factors that distinguish mountainous areas from flat areas. Among these are extreme temperature fluctuations, the seasonal dependence of hydroelectric power generation, limited grid capacity, and the inaccessibility of populated areas. Winter power shortages exceed one billion kilowatt-hours annually, while losses in the power system reach a fifth of annual output. Given such severe constraints, relying solely on centralized power supply is deemed impractical. However, the republic boasts impressive solar potential, estimated at approximately 25 billion kilowatt-hours annually, and the construction of over nine hundred small hydroelectric power plants on mountain river tributaries is technically feasible. The practical value of the proposed solutions is determined by the feasibility of implementing the State Program for the Development of Electric Transport for 2023–2028 and the Green Economy Strategy through 2037. The findings are applicable to the design of charging nodes on high-altitude routes, including the Dushanbe-Chanak and Dushanbe-Kulma routes, and provide a methodological foundation for further research in the field of decentralized energy.

Keywords: charging energy complexes; mountainous regions; Republic of Tajikistan; optimization; renewable energy sources; small hydropower plants; solar energy; energy storage systems; electric transport; microgrid

Abdullo Mamadamon Abdurahmonbek Tajik Technical University named after academician M.S.
