This trend also affects children, whose desires, needs, and fantasies are satisfied by their close relatives purchasing large quantities of toys made primarily of plastic, specifically polypropylene, which allows manufacturers to produce them in large quantities at an affordable price. Over time, toys can break, become boring, and accumulate over time. Due to their lack of use and the lack of alternative methods for further use, they are sent to unauthorized landfills. Since polypropylene, the material used in toys, takes an extremely long time to fully decompose, and during the decomposition process, it breaks down and releases microplastics that are harmful to the environment, a huge amount of these items accumulates. A proposed solution to this problem is recycling polypropylene children’s toys into children’s furniture. This will allow consumers to have one of the ways to sell them properly and thus help reduce the amount of plastic waste in the environment. The study’s methodology was based on theoretical and methodological analysis, graphical methods, and economic methods. The authors conducted a theoretical analysis of data on the state of environmental pollution from plastic waste, specifically from children’s toys made of polypropylene. They examined various types of toy shredders. Recycling technologies were studied, the most suitable one — injection molding — was selected, and a process flow diagram was developed. Mold and finished product options were proposed. A calculation of the economic component and payback period for this project was presented.

Keywords: environment; pollution; plastic waste; children’s toys; polypropylene; microplastics; shredder; injection molding

Prelikova Elena Anatolyevna Southwest State University, Kursk, Russia E-mail: elena_prelikova@bk.ru ORCID: https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1398-4312 RSCI: https://elibrary.ru/author_profile.asp?id=686332 WoS: https://www.webofscience.com/wos/author/rid/AAH-5482-2021 SCOPUS: https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.url?authorId=57211287079 Timofeev Gennady Pavlovich Southwest State University, Kursk, Russia E-mail: w261286@yandex.ru RSCI: https://elibrary.ru/author_profile.asp?id=679339 SCOPUS: https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.url?authorId=57212414971 Levchenko Vitaly Igorevich Southwest State University, Kursk, Russia …

[50,5

post-3657","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-issue-2-2026","category-article
["GET
