Abstract. This paper examines the application of geoinformation technologies in environmental protection activities. Geoinformation systems combine a set of technical means that allow data processing to solve a wide range of tasks, including tasks in the field of environmental protection. Geoinformation systems collect and process large amounts of information obtained from various sources — satellites, unmanned aerial vehicles, urban sensors, etc. Geoinformation systems are widely used to create tourist maps, geoportals, and various information applications for tourists and the tourism business in general, which allows both expanding visits to natural and cultural sites and improving the management of national parks and reserves. With the help of geoinformation systems, it is possible to expand the number of tasks to be solved in the field of environmental protection, to ensure the rational management of natural resources. The paper lists some applications that can be used in environmental protection activities. An interactive application in the form of an HTML map showing the concentration of pollutants in specific geographical areas is being considered. A description of the specialized geoinformation system Recyclemap is given. This is a non-profit project with unique information about reliable recycling collection points and places that help reduce waste. There is also a mobile application «Trip Russia», created to reduce the volume of unauthorized waste disposal as a result of tourism activities. Currently, the use of geoinformation systems in environmental protection activities is important for its development.
