Abstract. The paper shows that the functioning of the Internet is constantly transforming from the Internet of Computers to the Internet of Things. Moreover, according to the authors, massively interconnected systems, also known as cyber-physical systems, arise from the integration of many aspects, such as infrastructure, embedded devices, intelligent objects, people and the physical environment. The ubiquitous «Internet of Everything on a Smart Cyber-Physical Earth» is what civilization is heading toward and the authors agree on. «The Internet of Things» and cyber-physical systems combined with «data science» could be the next «smart revolution». This raises the problem of processing huge amounts of data with much less current computing power. Research in data science and artificial intelligence seeks to provide an answer to this pressing problem. Thus, the authors indicate that the «Internet of Things» with artificial intelligence could be a huge breakthrough. The authors believe that it is not just about saving money, smart things, reducing human effort, meeting the ever-growing needs of people, but about much more — facilitating human life. The authors considered serious problems, such as security and ethical issues that will continue to be of concern to the Internet of Things. The main problem, according to the authors, is not how deeply the Internet of Things connects with artificial intelligence, but how ordinary people perceive it — as a benefit, a burden or a threat.
