Abstract. Industrial production is the leading industry in Russia and the most competitive sector in the economy. This industry is characterized by the mass production of goods and is carried out in large enterprises using specialized equipment and machines. Today, the Russian Federation is one of the world’s leading industrial powers. According to its potential, the country’s industry is able to produce a wide range of goods that provide the most important areas of vital activity of the population. This topic is especially relevant in modern conditions, when Russian industry has begun to develop at a faster pace under the influence of sanctions from unfriendly countries.

The purpose of the work is a theoretical study of industrial production, analysis of the main socio-economic indicators, statistical analysis of the state of industrial production in the Russian Federation and forecasting the level of development of industrial production based on the results of the data obtained. The research is based on a systematic analytical approach to the economic and statistical assessment of industrial production in the Russian Federation.

In this work, the authors conducted a monographic study of the concept of «industrial production» and gave the author’s vision of this term; the information basis for the statistical study of industrial production was considered; the main socio-economic indicators of the Russian Federation were analyzed and corresponding conclusions were drawn; the indicators of the development of industrial production in the Russian Federation were assessed; the analysis of the series of dynamics was carried out using statistical methods the volume of shipped goods of our own production, completed works and services by our own forces in the subjects of the Russian Federation, and forecasting of the volume of shipped goods of our own production for the near future was carried out.

The results of the conducted research in the form of an economic and statistical analysis of industrial production can be applied in scientific and practical activities, as well as in the educational process for students of economic fields of study.
