Abstract. The article raises the problem of the image of the organization and its impact on the effectiveness of its work. Today, the image is a necessary element of the success of any enterprise and the key to its economic stability. Image formation is important for enterprises that provide the population with cultural and leisure activities. Among these enterprises, particular attention should be paid to the creation and support of the image of museums (regional, rural, etc.) located in places remote from large cities. The article describes and analyzes the main characteristics of the image of such institutions. The article examines the image of the local history museum of the Voskresensky district. A survey of customers and museum employees was conducted to identify the development of the elements that make up the museum’s image. According to the results of the survey and the results obtained as a result of other research methods, weaknesses of the work on creating the image were identified, ways to optimize the image policy of the museum under study were developed. The article describes the work on designing elements of the museum’s external attributes: emblems, slogan. A color palette is developed, the semantic load is described, an algorithm for using the developed external attributes is proposed. According to the results of the study, further developments are planned to improve the image of the museum.
