Abstract. Modern business conditions are characterized by the increasing importance of a comprehensive assessment of potential business partners. In the context of economic instability, increased competition, and the digitalization of business processes, selecting reliable counterparties is particularly pressing. Minimizing risks when establishing partnerships requires the use of scientifically proven methods for verifying potential counterparties. This study analyzes and systematizes the key approaches to assessing the reliability of business partners in Russian practice. The aim of this work is to identify the most effective methodological tools for verifying counterparties, allowing companies to minimize financial, reputational, and tax risks. The study examines various types of business partners: strategic allies, suppliers of goods and services, distributors, technology partners, investors, and financial institutions. This article analyzes in detail the evolution of approaches to assessing counterparty reliability, from the financial-analytical method of the 1990s–2000s to the modern intelligent approach based on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain technology. A significant portion of the work is devoted to the study of specialized information-analytical systems SPARK and Kontur.Fokus, which are the main tools for express counterparty verification in Russian practice. It examines financial-analytical methods, a classification of business valuation approaches (income, cost, and comparative), and scoring models that combine qualitative and quantitative methods for assessing an organization’s business reputation. A detailed algorithm for independently verifying a company’s reliability is presented, including five main steps: searching for information online, studying the corporate website, a physical visit to the office, a personal meeting with management, and requesting the necessary documents. This algorithm combines digital and traditional verification methods, providing a comprehensive assessment of a potential partner.
