Abstract. The study contributes to a comprehensive framework for understanding the mechanisms of development of the global and domestic food market, which is influenced by both a combination of external economic and political factors and internal ones. The theoretical and informational basis of the research is the publications of domestic and foreign authors researching key aspects of the development of the food market; expert opinions; statistical collections and analytical notes. The main research methods were: theoretical analysis, meta-analysis, statistical analysis and content analysis. In this paper, the authors attempt to analyze the impact of global trends on the global food market with an emphasis on domestic trends. The article examines the key factors that have a decisive impact on food production and consumption in the context of significant sanctions pressure from the countries of the Global West. The role of the Russian Federation in the global food trade has been assessed. The analysis shows that the Russian food market is adapting to these global dynamics, paying special attention to increasing domestic production and diversifying trade relations. Sanctions and geopolitical challenges, in which the Russian food market is forced to develop today, have largely changed, refocusing on Russian raw materials and striving for import substitution. Despite the fact that the Russian Federation is now forced to develop under conditions of unprecedented economic sanctions in terms of their number and intensity, it can be said that the country is confidently developing trade and economic ties on the world stage. The directions for future research and ways to improve the mechanisms of adaptation of the food market to the factors of external economic pressure are proposed.
