Abstract. Problems of environmental safety of an artificially created reservoir in wastewater discharge zones. In this article, the authors present the results of research on the problems of pollution of the reservoir with wastewater of various origins. During the research, zones with continuous and temporary effects of wastewater on the reservoir were identified. The main objective of the study was to study the sources of pollution of the surface wastewater of the reservoir in the discharge zones, as well as the study of the zones of distribution of pollutants. Research methods: field, statistical, analytical. The Voronezh reservoir is a unique man-made object from the middle of the last century. Its creation changed the appearance of the city of Voronezh, the climate and influenced industrial development. The reservoir is located within the boundaries of the city, dividing it into two parts. Its integration into the life of the agglomeration has affected the environmental situation, worsening its performance. This has affected the quality of surface waters and bottom sediments. One of the main reasons for this deterioration was the use of the reservoir as a receiver of surface wastewater discharged from the right and left banks of the city. Surface water flows from streets and roads to storm sewers, washing away petroleum products, heavy metals, dissolving reagents and other pollutants on its way. Thus, high concentrations of pollutants accumulate in the wastewater, passing through storm sewer channels, and is discharged directly into the reservoir without treatment. The reservoir also continuously receives purified wastewater from domestic sewage systems and industrial enterprises on the left bank. For the first time, maps of the spatial distribution of pollutants in the wastewater impact zone have been developed using the example of the Voronezh reservoir.
