Abstract. The article analyzes the main features of the use of the industrial Internet of Things in order to improve industrial and environmental safety at industrial enterprises. The authors analyzed statistical data on accidents at enterprises in Russia and the world, as a result of which certain industries were identified in which the number of such cases significantly exceeds the average. These include: transportation, manufacturing, and mining. According to these industries, the main dangerous and harmful factors are identified and possible options for reducing their impact on the employee’s body using IoT technologies are presented. The article provides an overview of a generalized multi-level security management architecture based on an IoT-service-oriented architecture. It consists of four levels: the level of devices equipped with sensors; the level of an intermediate device; the network level; the interface level. This approach is a technology of cloud software solutions, because all necessary information is stored and processed through a web resource. The introduction of such a system can significantly reduce the number of accidents and other undesirable incidents that occur in the course of production activities. As an example, the authors analyzed and provided examples of the use of IoT technologies and service-oriented architecture that can be used to ensure the production and environmental safety of technological processes in the mining industry: the use of signal transmission systems based on multiple input and multiple output for communication in underground mines; the use of passive, active radio frequency identification tags, smart cards in underground mines for the detection of explosives, long-distance communication, tracking and monitoring of environmental parameters, etc. In addition, further prospects for the development of the described technologies are presented.
