Abstract. The article analyzes the conditions of the imposed economic sanctions against Russia, estimates the reserves for increasing food resources located in the private sector of agricultural production, including in private subsidiary farms of the rural population. This necessitates the activation of procurement activities of consumer cooperatives.

The activities of consumer cooperation organizations are traditionally directly related to the welfare of the rural population of the country. Consumer societies not only ensure the sale of goods and services to the rural population, produce various agricultural products, but also contribute to the development of personal subsidiary farms by purchasing and processing agricultural products and raw materials produced on farms.

At the present time, the procurement industry of consumer cooperation is solving important tasks to implement the state strategy of replacing imported food products with domestic ones, developing rural areas and raising the standard of living of the rural population.
