The role of the company’s competencies in the process of international competition

Abstract. This article discusses the issue related to the study of the role of competencies owned by an organization in terms of the state of competition with other firms. The author describes the model of strategic management of the organization, highlights its main elements and subsystems, and also studies the issue of development and transformation of this concept. This article examines the current situation on the international market, in which companies have to constantly adapt to changing environmental conditions. In this regard, the role of competencies that an organization can apply increases.

An important place in this article is devoted to the study of the dynamic abilities of the organization, which represent the possibility of a quick transition from one position to another, as well as the transformation of individual elements. The author describes the mechanism of applying dynamic abilities as one of the most important competencies of an organization in international markets. In addition, this paper presents emergent strategies, the use of which contributes to the preservation of the organization’s position in moments of instability and economic turbulence. Emergent strategies appear spontaneously; the article describes the advantages of this approach, among which one can note high flexibility and readiness for rapid changes, which is very important in times of crisis.

In the final part of the paper, the author describes the importance of the company’s application of its competencies to improve its own efficiency and sustainability. Combining different approaches, for example, dynamic abilities and an emergent approach allows an organization to feel more confident in the process of competing with other organizations.
