Abstract. The article is devoted to the Russian publications on the issues of ecological audit performance in the Russian Federation. The various versions of the ecological audit appearance in Russia are presented. The comparisons of various definitions of ecological audit in accordance with regulatory documents are also presented. Information on the shift of a purely ecological audit to the field of audit of labor protection, ecology, industrial and fire safety (Audit Sharing) is provided. The main historical prerequisites that led to the transfer to Audit Sharing and the relationship between ecological audit, certification and quality management systems are shown. The financial and ecological audits were compared, and their similarity and difference were revealed.

The place of ecological audit in the system of enterprise management is indicated. There have been considered publications offering to improve the system of preparation of reports in the field of sustainable development of enterprises and those on issues of ecological audit performance in the certain regions. The issues of ecological audit performance in the countries of the former USSR were touched upon. The issues of legal conflicts under regulating preparation of ecological auditors and ecological audit performance were also engaged.
